Friday Night Reilly

Seems like its been forever since Reilly's been in front of the camera.  We needed some sporty looking shots for his birthday invitations.  I had a good solid 15 minutes before he got ill and we had to give it up.

Second Shooting with AbiQ

Back in July, I had the opportunity to be a second shooter at a wedding with AbiQ

I had a blast. She probably couldn't tell but I was super nervous and could have easily freaked out if it weren't for her calming presence. She was awesome. I learned a lot from Abi and wanted to share a little about the experience.

This was Patricia & Curt's wedding day. The ceremony was at Saint Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, GA.  I had to meet Abi at Noon that day and I left my house at 10am and just barely made it.  Atlanta traffic was horrible.  She showed me around the church and we went over the plans for the day.  My first assignment was to shoot the guys getting ready.

The ceremony started at 2pm and we had a few moments beforehand to plot out our strategy.  Actually, Abi was plotting and I was listening.  We found out at the literally the last minute that we had to shoot from the back of the church and we were not going to be allowed to be down front.  Minor set back.  We set up and fired away as the wedding party entered and during the ceremony.  At one point, I think Abi even went up into the balcony.

The ceremony was beautiful, of course, but the real fun happened after the ceremony.  The wedding party graciously was up to going to downtown Norcross to get some fun shots.

The fun continued on to the reception, which was held at the Hilton in Norcross.  I brought a couple of strobes and I asked Abi if I could set them up to try and get some cool backlit dancefloor shots. A few of them turned out pretty good.

It was a long day but it was fun.  I hope I get the chance to work with Abi again.  I learned a lot, especially the limitations of my camera in no flash/low light situations.  I'm so accustomed  shooting with off camera flash and I was definitely taken out of my element inside the church.  But the experience was invaluable.

Check out Abi's blog at abiqblog.com and her website is abiqphotography.com.
